Political ideas of Theodoros II Lascaris
Summary:
The main subject of this doctoral dissertation is the investigation of the political and philosophical ideas of the emperor and scholar Theodoros II Laskaris (1221-1258) through his treatise "Six Discourses on Natural Communion" and the letters he wrote and addressed to his teacher Nikiforos Blemmydis, as well as other important personalities of his time. Based on the primary sources of his work, we add our own interpretive approach to these philosophical ideas. Our treatment is mainly in the light of the history of ideas and secondarily only in relation to political theory.
