Clinical Estimation of fracture risk in Greek population using ‘FRAX’ algorithm, and the nursing intervention
Summary:
Given the distinct characterization of a ‘silent disease’, Osteoporosis is defined as a chronic skeletal disorder that stands as a major socio-economic dispute. The trademark of that particular condition, is the occurrence of low-impact fractures – which is an expression of the alteration of the bone tissue’s mechanical properties. It is estimated that up until the year 2050, there will be a major increase of the hip fracture incidences, concerning the Greek population. That statement alone, imposes an urgent need for drafting a valid way of clinically assessing the ten-year-fracture risk. The aforementioned clinical evaluation is enabled via the use of the ‘FRAX’ algorithm, and is completed through the intervention of the nursing stuff.
