Summary:
The present thesis studies the issue of sexuality in the Japanese culture of manga and anime. Also, it explores the ways that audiences in Greece give meaning to the manga and anime genre. Thematic analysis with elements of discourse analysis is selected as the research method of this thesis. The reasearch method is applied on what participants say during the focus groups. The participants are chosen according to their level of familiarity with Japanese pop culture. The purpose is to bring out possible differences in participants' opinions and the ways they understand and give meaning to the manga/anime genre according to their level of familiarity with manga/anime culture.
