Summary:
In today’s era, a great part of the humanity has been deluged with technological innovations,
which are bound to radically change the way we act daily. Technologies such as
Blockchain alter the organization and function of the economy to a great extent since they
create the technological capacity for the existence of a distributed form of trust which is
not based on the existence of centralized systems for the security of its transactions, as
banks are. More specifically, we refer to money that can be programmed through the use
of smart contracts and used for automated transactions without human intervention. As
a result, money is digitalized in every kind of form (e.g. cash, shares). Technologies for
secure distributed electronic transactions, such as Blockchain, have strong requirements
for security, scalability and performance, which attract various research works. The purpose
of the present assignment is the study and development of such a distributed system
(peer to peer), at the level of application, which represents a decentralized electronic form
of money (cryptocurrency).
