Analysis of Microarray Data in Cancer Stem Cells
Summary:
"Cancer stem cell" is a generic term referring to cancer cells capable of differentiation and self-renewal, which are seemingly the main reason for can-cer stem cell resistance to chemotherapy. Their origin remains unclarified, although a number of assumptions have been proposed. Cancer stem cells play a key role in the development, metastasis, and recurrence of cancer.
The purpose of the present study is to use gene expression data from a va-riety of cancer stem cell tissues to determine the mechanisms of patho-genicity and response in therapeutic regimens. Statistical analysis and functional analysis of the data are performed and a method of comparative study and correlation of the resulting models based on a nodal phenotype is developed.
