Study of the High School students’ social representations regarding their educational and professional preferences

The students of the two latest classes of High School have to deal with the greek national exams, which may affect their educational or/and professional future. Thanks to this research, there was a try of the study of the students’ social representations regarding the education and the professional life, as well as a try of the investigation of the factors which affect their educational and professional preferences and choices. A qualitative research carried out with telephone interviews to six male students and seven female students. The interviewees extolled the role of education, but their opinion about the educational system of Greece and the labor market situation was negative. Moreover, it seems that different factors affect them about their choice of the orientation group and their preference of University and job, with the most popular of them the school performance, the personality, the friends and the labor market conditions.
