Nail abnormalities associated with systemic neoplastic diseases and secondary to chemotherapeutic agents
Summary:
Numerous systemic diseases leave their mark on the nails, therefore providing physicians with a valuable insight into the correct diagnosis. Understanding nail abnormalities may be of vital importance for the assessment of a patient’s overall health, especially in the context of detection and treatment of malignancy. In addition, anticancer therapy is associated with a variety of systemic side effects, including nail changes, which can be considered as one of the most unpleasant for the patient, especially due to their aesthetic deficiency.
The purpose of the present study is twofold and consists of the evaluation of nail manifestations due to systemic malignancies, as well as, the study of nail changes in relation to chemotherapeutic agents.
