“The issue with leavened and unleavened bread until the post-byzantine period”
Summary:
The issue with leavened and unleavened bread arose again during the 11th century in Rome. The Holy Fathers addressed this problem based on the Holy Canon and works of the Fathers of the first century. On the contrary, the Roman Catholics made innovations and among the sacraments of the Church, which were not based nor founded in the teachings of the Lord and Holy Apostles nor on the practices of the Early Church. The problem was not only ritualistic but in essence, a major theological – dogmatical problem. Between the Latin approach and the Orthodox tradition until the post-byzantine period, there are basic differences on a theological and dogmatic level in correspondence with the understanding of leavened and unleavened bread.
