Summary:
The goal of this thesis is to study the Glass Ceiling Effect in Greece. Framed by Feminist
Theory and realized via Content Analysis, the paper utilizes quantitative and qualitative
research to demonstrate the obstacles the Glass Ceiling Effect creates for female academics in
Greek universities and how those obstacles marginalize them and obstruct them from
advancing to higher ranks. I complete both researches by way of statistical data gathering and
semi-structured interviews with female participants belonging to university faculties. Both
research methods provide fruitful results which confirm both the existence of the Glass
Ceiling Effect in the Greek case and some poignant Lived Experiences on behalf of the
academics interviewed during the process.
