Summary:
The aim of this master's thesis is the study of the arrangement of 5 of the 14 arrangements from the "44 Children's Piano Pieces on Greek melodies" by Giannis Konstantinidis and more specifically the evaluation of their educational goals, as they arise from their arrangement criteria, compared to the original material of the composer.
The ways in which the arranger manages the material of Konstantinidis, in order to make it suitable educationally for the course of chamber cusic, specially designed for both beginners and advanced students, are developed in detail and in contrast to the original.
There is also a brief discussion of the present editorial image of the Greek repertoire for violin and piano and the usual educational practices in chamber music, in relation to the potential benefits that would result from the application of its teaching with stricter repertoire criteria and especially, at younger ages. Following on the occasion of the above discussion, is a short questionnaire with key questions for prominent teachers and professionals with an international, performing and teaching career in chamber music.
Finally the scores of the originals and the arrangements are presented for study and comparison at the end of the thesis.
