Summary:
The readiness to deal with emergencies in hospitals is a response to any natural disasters, terrorist threats, and other emergencies. According to Blanchard (2008), emergency preparedness as defined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is as follows: “Discipline that ensures the readiness of a (nursing) community lies in responding to a state of emergency with a coordinated , a timely and effective way to prevent loss of life and minimize injuries. " This definition is widely used in many areas, including all areas of health care and public health. Knowledge of the "emergency" through specialized protocols, continuous training and skills, are critical to the safe and effective disaster management in today’s healthcare environment. The training and training of health care providers should prepare them to provide care during and after emergencies, in addition to communicating and collaborating.
Emergency preparedness is a dynamic process and as it continues to evolve, further research is needed to standardize training, encourage collaboration and facilitate communication to deal with incidents by hospital professionals / nursing staff.
All of the above are the subject of this dissertation, a study and evaluation of the readiness of nursing staff for emergencies / events.
