Investigation of syntactic terms in the elementary and high school textbooks

The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether and to what extent the textbooks of Greek Language of Elementary and High School are engaged in syntax as well as whether they follow the terminology that exists in the textbooks of Grammar of Elementary and High School and also in scientific textbooks. A parallel aim is also to examine whether teachers have understood the syntactic terms taught in the textbooks mentioned. In more detail, the syntactic terms that are the subject of teaching in elementary and high school are first presented in detail. Next, a comparison is made in the presentation of these terms in order to observe whether there is a correspondence between them. For the same purpose, a survey was conducted on 30 educators, teachers and philologists, with a questionnaire that included relevant closed-ended questions. The results of the research showed that there are some ambiguities in the textbooks in some syntactic terms, which stand in the way of their full understanding by the teachers.
