Summary:
Background
The Secondary School of South Rhodes is located in the village of Gennadi and serves students from the wider area. It belongs to remote areas. The aim of this study is to capture the information of the students of the school about the response actions of a mass disaster.
Methods
The tool of the study was a specially designed questionnaire of 57 questions that was sent via e-mail to the students of the school of Gennadi (225).
Results
Almost 1/3 of the students are informed about their safety in case of a massive disaster by their parents, 50% of the participants stated that their school is rarely informed them. ¾ of children in case of emergency are willing to help and 40% would attend some training on mass disaster management.
Conclusions
The evaluation of the degree of student awareness is vital to effectively managing a disaster in teaching hours. Proper information and education of students will increase the safety of children attending school.
