The present dissertation discusses the phenomenon of the villa in East Crete and its peculiarities. More specifically, I analyse Klimataria, Prophitis Ilias, Epano Zakros and House A at Achladia seperately for their architecture, function and significance. The aim of this examination is to locate common principles that may have held for all the East Crete villas.
