Summary:
Through the analysis of questionnaires and the conduct of 2 focus groups, an attempt is made to investigate the effect of participation in the training program "Development of teacher skills for the integration of refugee and immigrant children in Greece: Linguistic and Psychoeducational Management in Multicultural and Multilingual". The analysis is based on the theoretical starting points of the principles of adult education and teacher training, transformational learning theory and Freire's theory of education for social change. The data refer to how the participants describe the training program as an educational experience, what are their motivations and expectations from the specific training, what points do they identify as important and why, what difficulties did they face, how did it affect their perceptions of their role as teachers as well as the concept of collaboration. The analysis reveals high satisfaction of the expectations and needs of the participants from the specific training. The individual elements of the program are evaluated very positively, while they characterize the change in distance as successful. They emphasize as positive features of the training program that it was different from previous trainings, its experiential form but also the connection with their experiences. Collaboration in the group is mentioned as a starting point for a reflective process while they single out solidarity and the common ideological basis as key elements of a developing network. They testify that their participation in the training triggered reflective processes, initiated changes concerning the role and their educational practices, strengthened their arguments and strengthened them.
