''Psychological support for patients with lung cancer and nursing interventions.Literature Review''

Lung cancer is considered to be the second most frequent type of cancer
worldwide. The patients’ quality of life along with the psychological support
contribute to the treatment of the disease. The report is aiming into exploring the
psychological support of the patient’s and it’s meaning, analyzing their
psychological phases and dealing with the nurse's role not only towards the
person suffering but also towards the immediate family. There is a variety of
reactions when patients are diagnosed and during illness. Consequently, it is of a
great need that they are emotionally supported as aftereffects are fear, negative
emotions, depression, the need of survival and disbelief. Patients with lung
cancer are affected by their family and social environment as well as the facilities
of the health care system. It is of the highest importance that the nurse use
familiar tactics individually and collaboratively to contribute to the acquisition of
survival skills of improving quality of life of these people and to boost their will for
life. Furthermore, a nurse is there to give advise and to organize interventions
such as information campaigns for their rights and support centers in which they
can turn to for anything they need. Good psychology is very important to
effectively cope with lung cancer.
