Summary:
The present work deals with the tonal behavior of the immutable male baptismal names with a inflectional suffix –(i)os in the general singular. The main goal of the research was to highlight whether or not the primary school teachers of Attica keep the tone constant in this particular case. In addition, the aim was to investigate specific factors that could influence their tonal behavior. A questionnaire was created for the research, in which the types of activities used to evaluate the morphological awareness were utilized. The analysis of the results showed that the participants mainly preferred to keep the tone of the main names constant as well as that the lowering of the tone, when observed, is related to the number of syllables, the ending in -ios or -os, the rarity of the name , his association with a well-known personality as well as his use as a family name.
