Summary:
This thesis is about to examine the ability of children to think critically according to Mezirow. It also examines whether children have the cognitive ability and the intended engagement to develop critical thinking. Finally, it is assessed whether 11 years old children can transform their dysfunctional perspectives.
In order to develop the subject it is used bibliographic method. Especially, the first part presents theories of great educators in general education and in adult education. Each chapter compares the views which are reported, identifies any ambiguity, and underlines any scientific gap. The second part presents the research organization, a hypothetical teaching scenario and the final conclusions. The focus of this thesis is on Mezirow’s Transformation Theory.
