Protection of Whistleblowers

The specified thesis discusses the delicate issue about protection of whistleblowers, as the said witnesses are named internationally. Initially, the aim is an as detailed as overview of international and national statutory purview, as the circumstances, which they must be fulfilled, so as to enjoy the privileges, that their characterization as whistleblowers entails. Helper in this effort is the case law of ECHR (European Court for Human Rights), which should be lodestar for the national judicial authorities, whenever they are summoned to adjudge necessity or not of protection on the foresaid witnesses.
Furthermore, it becomes an effort to exhibit the opinions, which have been formulated in the theory and the case law about arising matters because of edges, that characterize the protective purview of our country, but if it’s necessary the penman files his personal view. In addition, it is anatomized the protection of whistleblowers, who work in services of UN and EU. However, special allusion becomes about the latest developments at the level of European law, after the recent adoption of the directive EU/2019/1937 by the European Parliament and the council of EU, with the aim of providing more effective protection to the foresaid persons.
Finally, some helpful conclusions are recorded, in good part based on reports and recommendations, that international organizations, responsible for anticorruption, have addressed to our country.
