"The work of Heavenly Judgement of St. Athanasios of Paros"
Summary:
St. Athanasios Parios was a leading teacher and theologian of the 18th century. He was a founding member of the Kollyvades Fathers, a movement that revived spirituality in the 18th century. Writing the "Heavenly Judgement", he offered a work full of passages from the Holy Bible and Holy Fathers of the Orthodox Church to show the Truth of the Orthodox Christian Faith but also to ensure that the faith remained unadulterated by Enlightenment and Roman Catholicism. Among the historical events that took place both in the Ionian Islands and in Greece, spirituality was experienced differently in each place. Recognizing the intervention of St. Spyridon during the salvation of Corfu from the Ottomans, the Venetians wanted to build a Roman Catholic Altar inside the Orthodox Church, but brought about the Heavenly judgement and further revealed the theological and ecclesiological differences between the Roman Catholics and the Orthodox.
