Hygiene and Safety in the Armed and the Security Forces

The Armed and the Security Forces are part of every democratically organized community. That is why it is important to protect the people who staff these forces. This can be done primarily by ensuring the best possible working conditions under a Health and Safety regime.
In order to achieve this task, a continuous effort is required to study and observe the existing working conditions, to continuously improve them, to make suggestions for the proper operation of the system as well as to apply a feedback model to ensure Health and Safety at work.
In this master’s thesis an attempt will be made to achieve the first stages of the above process. Specifically, the issue will be studied and analyzed in order to draw conclusions and proposals aimed at safeguarding the people who serve to defend the national interest.
This study will begin by taking a historical look back from antiquity to the present day, noting the most important events. Reference will be made to the behavior of the European and Greek society, as well as the most important legislation that shaped the situation. Then, there will be definitions and concepts in order to have a smooth transition to the main topic, the analysis of the occupational risks. At this point there will be a collection of them in a table, which will help in the analysis of the Armed and the Security Forces. Following the above, will be noted the ways in which we can improve the conditions of Health and Safety and finally will be gathered all the data that will lead to conclusions and suggestions.
