The social representations of children in the 5th and 6th grade of primary school for the foreigner

The aim of this thesis is to refer to the representation of the "foreigner" by the children of 5th and 6th grade primary school, in order to clarify their perceptions of the "foreigner". The concept of "foreigner" is related to otherness and has received a negative sign. As a term, it refers more to the origin of individuals, since it is connected with the meaning of place, the boundaries of a culture and the perceptions of a society. Through the present research, an attempt is made to record the perceptions of children about the "foreigner" with the help of children's drawings and interviews, in order to make his social representations transparent. Despite the existence of social stereotypes in modern societies, the research concluded that primary school students have not adopted negative views of foreigners and instead show a friendly attitude towards them.
