Translated title:
Cultural change in western Asia Minor during the Palaeologan period
Summary:
The western Asia Minor was an area where important changes took place during the Palaeologan period, gradually transitioning from a Byzantine, Orthodox Christian space to a Turkish and Muslim one. The aim of this work is to point out the aspects of this cultural change, by examining the political transformation of the area with the emergence of the Turkish emirates, the processes by which Islam and the Turkish language became dominant, as well as the continuity or lack thereof in terms of urban and rural topography, architecture, and state institutions.
