The Greek folk song through the discography of Takis Karnavas
Summary:
The main purpose of this study is to lay the bases for the neo-traditional song and also
to analyze the work of a key representative of this Greek music genre, Takis Karnavas.
Basic terms, often found (but also often confounded with each other) in everyday life
and music discography, have been briefly explained. In addition, we take a retrospective
look at the neo-traditional song from its first appearance until nowadays, not only as a
unchanging musical genre but as something evolving within a socio-historical context.
Finally, specific songs from the discography of Takis Karnavas are analyzed in terms
of their phonological elements and rhythm.
