Summary:
This work was conducted within the postgraduate thesis, at the Inorganic Laboratory of the Chemistry Department, UoA. The goal of this thesis is the study of systems for hydrogen production in homogeneous catalysis, as also the study of the systems using UV-Vis, IR and NMR spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. An effort was conducted to detect hydrogen in systems composed of fluorescein or [Ru(bpy)3Cl2] used as a photosensitizers (PS), nickel complexes as catalysts (Cat.), triethanolamine (TEOA) or a ascorbic acid/ sodium ascorbate buffer solution as electron donor (ED) and dimethylfurane (DMF) plus water (DMF:Η2Ο) as solvents. For hydrogen detection we used a gas chromatographer (GC) equipped with a thermal conductivity detector (TCD). Moreover, the complexes’ electrocatalytical hydrogen production was studied.
