This work was took place within the PhD thesis in the laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In theoretical part covers photocatalytic and electrocatalytic systems for hydrogen production. Experimentally, it deals with the synthesis and characterization of complexes that could act as catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). During this thesis, fifteen new complexes of Ni tested both photocatalytically and electrocatalytically
