Analysis of the seismic activity of Greece for the period 1900-1930 using macroseismic intensities.

The present work focused on the digitalization of the parametric data from the official Bulletins of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA). More particularly, the sections referring to the seismicity of Greece during the period 1900 to 1930. Initially, the data were compared to other existing earthquake catalogues and maps from the same period. Using a specialized software the data were registered in the main data base of NOA using the Kriging method to produce the corresponding isoseismal maps for every earthquake, when that was statistically possible. Furthermore, corresponding macroseismic intensity maps were produced using an open source collection of tools for manipulating geographic and Cartesian data sets, the Generic Mapping Tools (GMT). Finally, concentration maps and seismicity graphics of the period of interest were developed. The purpose of the present work is the presentation of the seismicity as recorded in the official Bulletins of NOA and the export of inferences about the seismicity allocations in Greece during the period 1900 to 1930.
