Psychological burden and anxiety of parents of children treated in the pediatric intensive care unit

The hospitalization of a child in the Intensive Care Unit is a very painful event for his parents, as well as for the rest of his family. The prevailing condition intensifies unpleasant feelings in the parents, such as anxiety, uncertainty and insecurity, while many parents even show symptoms of depression. Factors that affect their psychosynthesis can be psychological, social or also economic. The aim of this paper is to analyze the feelings of parents and to identify the factors that exacerbate them and the role of medical and nursing staff. The research was based on the quantitative method and the research tool used is the questionnaire. The increased level of education of mothers enables them to better understand the health status of their child and therefore reduce their stress levels (sig <0.05). According to the conclusions he reached, the stress of the parents increases with the presence of the machines, but decreases when the participation of the experts is intense, who can reassure them.
