Summary:
The present dissertation aims to record and highlight the similarities and differences
of news coverage between the two versions - print and electronic - of the same media.
The transition of the Greek press to the Internet and the use of the potential offered
by this technological means run through the theoretical part of the dissertation and give
rise to further research.
The research was carried out through the comparative analysis of the front pages of
three Greek newspapers, "I Efimerida ton Syntakton", "I Avgi" and "Rizospastis", and
the frontpages of their online counterparts, www.efsyn.gr, www.avgi.gr and
www.rizospastis.gr. The comparison was approached through four axes: the agenda setting, the degree of overlap between print and online news, the style and the framing
of the news articles.
The findings of the research were discussed in the form of interviews with three
journalists, each of whom also works in each of the media under study, in order to draw
up more accurate conclusions.
