Dream Discourse and Female Identity in Modern Greek Literature (1980-2020)
Summary:
The dissertation entitled “Dream Discourse and Female Identity in Modern Greek Literature, 1980-2020” aims to examine the dream discourse in modern Greek literature, from 1980 till 2020, and its contribution to the construction of a female identity, as depicted in literary dreams created by women writers of Metapolitefsi (Rhea Galanaki, Maro Douka, Zyranna Zateli, Margarita Karapanou, Ioanna Karystiani, Dimitra Kolliakou, Maria Mitsora, Amanda Michalopoulou, Constantia Soteriou, Ersi Sotiropoulos, Soti Triantafillou, Evgenia Fakinou, etc.) and narrated by their female characters. Taking into account methodological elements from the fields of psychoanalysis and narratology and having as a point of reference the notion of identity in relation to otherness, we will attempt to explore aspects of the mnemonic, sexual, cross-generational and historical identity.
