5G network: Approach and design of high power amplifier in Ka band
Summary:
In recent years, with the help of rapid technological advances, there is a tendency for a steady increase in the center frequencies of microwave signals and higher (300MHz-300GHz) of the electromagnetic spectrum. This feverish search and creation of integrated circuits (hybrid MIC, MMIC, etc.) that can support such high frequencies (up to 0.3 THz) is due to the many advantages and applications they have both in terrestrial telecommunication systems Satellite communications and military-regular issues. The large number of electronic applications (such as WiMax, 5G) that already exist nowadays, demands the use of even higher band frequencies, as lower bands are fully occupied. Consequently, the growth of new generation transistors which are manufactured in technology of High Electron Mobility HEMT GaN lead to the need of the design and implementation of innovative HPAs with satisfactory performance. Τhe present thesis provide us information with 5G and to highlight the key emerging technology, which will be used in the deployment of the 5G networks. This paper focus on the network architecture, the evolution of the radio access technologies, mm-Wave technologies and the allocations of the new spectrum. For the transmitter design of such networks, a wideband power amplifier is presented in Ka-band, for possible use due to the agreement on the number of bands for these networks in World Radiocommunication Conference. Thereafter parameters of wideband power amplifier at Ka-Band are studied and the simulation of operation of networks was done with program Keysight ADS. Therefore the power amplifier was analyzed with scattering (S) parameters technique as two port network and variables that affect its reliability and function in applications like unilaterality , stability and performance were investigated. In the end, we designed and simulated input and output matching networks with different branches (lumped elements, short-circuit and open-circuit stubs) for satisfying the high performance demands of applications.
