Summary:
Digital technologies are radically changing all sectors of the economy. The application of digital technologies as well as the utilization of digital skills are no longer an optional action for businesses but a key survival factor. The growth of businesses in the modern interconnected digital environment requires a radical rethinking of how the organization uses technology, processes and people to evolve its business performance. In this new evolutionary stage of the Digital Transformation of businesses, the utilization of available data sources on the Internet and in the Cloud Computing is now a cornerstone of the data economy. On the one hand, companies are looking for ways to gain added value from Data Analysis, while on the other hand this data is available for sale in online Data Marketplaces. In this context, the present dissertation studies the emerging role of Data Marketplaces in the development of business information systems. First, we identify the importance of the fledgling Data model as a Service to the Cloud Computing, which determines the development and evolution of Data Analysis tools. In the following, we present the basic Data Analysis methods that utilize such external, reusable data sources and highlight the role of sources in decision making. Finally, we emphasize the multitude of issues that arise, such as, for example, taking appropriate measures to protect personal data and ensuring their confidentiality and integrity. Ultimately, the degree of trust that will emerge between data producers and consumers will determine whether data exchange and analysis is an "integrated innovation".
