Burnout and self-efficacy of Special Educational Staff, Special Supporting Staff and Teachers during pandemic Covid-19
Summary:
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about significant changes in many areas of people's
daily lives, including education. This has led to new challenges for teachers, the Special
Educational Staff and the Special Supporting Staff, who have been called upon to deal with changes in their professional conditions. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to investigate their burnout and their general self-efficacy during the pandemic. In this study took part 758 participants (teachers, Special Educational Staff, Special Supporting Staff) who worked in schools of general or special education, in educational diagnostic centers or in private sector. Participants were given a demographic questionnaire, the Maslach Burnout Inventory Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE). Results showed a negative correlation of general self-efficacy with emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and a positive one with a sense of personal achievement. In addition, there appeared to be differences in general self-efficacy between employee specialties. Finally, general self-efficacy and demographic factors predicted burnout dimensions.
