Summary:
Evolution, being an integral part of man, is found in all manifestations in the course of his life. Likewise, tradition, instruments, musicians and every element that surrounds them give us the opportunity to move forward in relation to the past, feeling important and progressive with the present, which is based on the term evolution and its transitions. The present work examines the rhythmic evolution of the Leventikos rhythm, which is an integral part of the musical identity of Western Macedonia and specifically of the region of Florina. The work is based on the study of the specific rhythm through the recording of discographic material and its processing. The study of the literature focuses on issues concerning the social, political and cultural context, which is interrelated with the nature of the instrument and consequently with the rhythm. The aim of the work through recording is to highlight the transition from the Macedonian set of drums (gran cassa, snare drum, cymbal) to drums-drums, studying the evolution of rhythmic variations, which come to shape modern drumming. The subject approaches theoretically, but also practically the emergence of the transition and evolution from the Macedonian set of drums to the drums-drums of today.
