Teachers' professional development and learder's role
Summary:
Teachers’ professional development is of paramount importance both for teachers themselves and for their students and the schools they work in. School’s principal plays an important role in their involvement in actions to promote their professional development. The aim of this study is to explore professional development and principal’s role in it from teachers’ perspective. 116 primary school teachers participated in the survey (N=116). The quantitative method was chosen for its implementation, using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. According to the results, female teachers prefer master programs and in-school training in contrast to male teachers who choose individual action research. Finally, in terms of principals’ characteristics, their communication skills, goals, the formation of a positive environment and their supportive situation to teachers were considered more important.
