Comorbidity and drug allergy
Summary:
The purpose of our project was to find out the relationship between the hypersensitivity reactions to the drugs of the patients in a common pharmacy and their comorbidities. The hypersensitivity reactions are the side-effects that clinically are showed as allergic reactions. Comorbidities refer to one or more diseases that one patient may have at the same time. The most suitable method for our statistical survey was the questionnaire. The need for the creation of a new questionnaire came from the non existence of a similar questionnaire, which was recognized as a scientific study and has taken place at a pharmacy. The patients that took part had already experienced one or more hypersensitivity reactions at the past that was diagnosed or not. Before the filling of the questionnaire, we had all the informed consent of the patients for their personal data. The first part of the questionnaire was about all the demographic and social data of the patients and the second part about the hypersensitivity reactions. The questionnaire was answered one time by the patient and another by the healthcare worker with his observations. The questionnaire was answered totally by 20 patients at the time given for the survey. The descriptive statitistics that we used as a method has calculated that the p was 0,01693, a statistically significant number. The patients with symptoms of allergic rhinitis, atopical skin condition and allergic asthma had by far more allergic reactions than the healthy population. The results of the statistics showed that our initial hypothesis was correct. This statistic survey will need for sure more research to a bigger number of patients with more comorbidities. It is important the categorization of the diseases of the patients in a future statistic survey because this survey could lead to different and complicated results.
