Summary:
This dissertation deals with the way in which the refugee is socially recruited by the wider society in modern Greece. It approaches the way in which refugees, Greek society and the Greek media interact and how this interaction creates the framework under which the refugee in Greece is constructed. The literature review analyzes the role played by the media in the representation of refugees, stereotypes as the main feature of the reception of refugees by society, and the construction of reality in the context of social constructionism. Finally, the analysis of the research findings follows as well as the conclusions of the analyzed data.
