Critical Evaluation of sonification techniques in assistive navigation systems for the visually impaired.
Summary:
Blinding is the result of the weakness of the sight and is usually due to pathological and neurological causes. Some people are partially blind and some completly. Τhis following project presents how Music Technology can support people with a sight disability. The study I have decided to focus on is the one that concerns the safety of the sight disabled community in the streets. Specifically, how they do manage to cross a high speed streets with safety.

The experiment was based on two sounds, “click” and “cuckoo”, inspired by Janet Barlow and Lukas Frank. I have created an audio track and a questionnaire, in order to interview four sight disabled people and result in the following conclusion.
