Summary:
In this systematic review and meta-analysis the investigetation guestion is the nocebo effect on the use of bisphosphonates through RCTs on primary osteoporosis.
An indirect indicator of nocebo is the measurement of the percentile of the population that quit the study claiming they developed side effects.
The conclusion of the trial is that 1 in 10 individual withdrew from the control group due to side effects from all biphosphonates
In addition individuals over 63 years old showed a higher incidence of side effects as compared to below that age group.
