Disasters in Kineta during 2018-2019; the response of the state mechanism and the political implications
Summary:
This thesis deals with the disasters that took place in Kineta in 2018 and 2019, focusing on disaster management by the Public Administration, examining the response of the state mechanism and investigating the existence of political implications for the various actors. There are three basic assumptions it tries to answer. The first concerns the correlation of the two disasters, namely the fire of 2018 and the flood in 2019 in Kineta. Thus, the hypothesis is formulated as follows: The two phenomena -the fire of 2018 and the floods of 2019- are related, ie the fire of 2018 is causally related to the floods of 2019.

The second case states that the state mechanism did not take sufficient care of the preparation, preparedness and dealing with the vulnerability of the area that intensified due to the 2018 fire.

The third case concerns the political implications. Thus, it is defined as the fact that there has been a significant impact on political actors due to the management of the natural disasters that the thesis deals with.

Among other things, there is a brief presentation of some definitions related to the subject of the thesis, helping the reader to better comprehent it. Then, the natural disasters in Kineta are presented, namely the fire of 2018 and the flood of 2019. In addition, the institutional framework for disaster management in our country is presented with special emphasis on the prevention and management of fires and floods.

In addition, through the utilization of the interviews conducted in the context of the present thesis, the management by the Public Administration both local and central, of natural disasters is investigated as well as the political consequences that may have occurred.
Finally, some conclusions are drawn as to whether or not the above hypotheses are valid.
