Endovascular techniques for the management of active bleeding in polytrauma patients

In the general part of the paper, detailed data from the literature are reported, which demonstrate the contribution of endovascular techniques to the treatment of active bleeding in polytrauma patients. Specifically, the clinical and imaging methods followed for the diagnosis of bleeding are analyzed, while the necessary steps to stabilize the patient and the appropriate preparation for the restoration of the damage are also described. Crucial importance is the choice of the optimal method for the restoration of vascular damage, as well as the most appropriate time when it should be done. The classification systems of injuries in the various organ systems, the available endovascular methods, their indications and contraindications, as well as possible complications are presented in detail. In the special part of the paper, cases from the literature are presented, where, through their clinical and imaging characteristics, the applications of endovascular therapy in the various organ systems, described in the general part, are highlighted.
