ESPAÑOL: El nacionalismo es una de las ideologías más importantes de los siglos 19 y 20. Se encuentra en formas diferentes en cada caso, según las necesidades y las particularidades históricas, las políticas u otras aspiraciónes de cada sociedad y pueblo. El estudio presente enfoca en dos ejemplos, el de América Latina y el de Grecia. Como ejes del estudio funcionan las obras de dos autores, contemporáneos entre si, Pedro Henríquez Ureña e Ion Dragumis. El objetivo es estudiar las diferentes respuestas que se dan por cada autor, debido al rasgo del nacionalismo a responder a riesgos y necesidades concretas de ahí que no sea una teoría inflexible. Puntos centrales en cada autor son estos que responden a los desafíos que tiene que enfrentar. Objetivo común en ambos es la investigación y la emergencia de la particularidad y del carácter propio de la cultura de que cada uno forma parte. En realidad, se trata de dos rutas paralelas, nunca cruzadas, que muestran con mayor nitidez las resuestas diferentes del nacionalismo en ambitos culturales diferentes.
ENGLISH: Nationalism is one of the most crucial ideologies of the 19th and 20th centuries. Found in many forms, nationalism responds to the necessities, historical peculiarities, politics or other claims and assertions a society or people have. The present essay focuses on two examples, these of Latin America and of Greece. The axes of the essay are the work of two authors, who lived at the same time, Pedro Henríquez Ureña and Ion Dragoumis. The purpose of the essay is to study the different answers given by each one, providing that nationalism responds always upon concrete necessities and stakes, so it is not a rigid, inflexible theory. Core points of every author are those answering to the challenges each one has to deal with. Common purpose for both is the investigation and the emergence of the particularity and the character of each one’s culture. Essentially there are twor parallel routes, never crossed, which show as clear as possible the differences of nationalism in different cultural environments.
