Summary:
The emergence of Airbnb is unquestionably one of the most significant and transformative recent developments within the worldwide tourism sector during the past decade. Nowadays, people from all over the world use travel and tourism-related platforms to search for accommodation, whereas they are highly interested in the points of interest (POIs) located nearby. In this thesis, a tourist application for searching for accommodation is presented, based on, among other criteria, their proximity to POIs of a specific type (e.g., Culture). The application uses geographic data (geospatial data), drawn from various open sources of Linked Data.
