Summary:
The present thesis deals with the phenomenon of immigration in the light of the most specific category of immigrants, that of second generation immigrants. The approach to this issue is divided into two main sections, on the one hand, the legal status of second-generation immigrants and, on the other hand, their integration. Each section is divided into further sub-sections, with the main axis being the historical review, from the beginning of the phenomenon of immigration to the present day.
The aim is to highlight the existing close link between the legal status of immigrants and their integration, as concepts that are inextricably linked and fully interconnected with each other.
