Systematic Analysis of the Third Movement of Béla Bartók's Sonata for Solo Violin using the Method of Generative Theory of Tonal Music
Summary:
The thesis analyzes the third movement of Béla Bartók's sonata for solo violin. As a method of analysis, the Generative Theory of Tonal Music is used which can be adapted to the metatonic idioms of Bartók's musical language. The application of the specific analysis method to a monophonic piece of music without the accompaniment of a second instrument was one of the main objectives of the thesis. The relationship between the Generative Theory of Tonal Music as a method of analysis and computational analysis is commented. Listed at the end are the questions that arose during the analysis of the piece.
