Common Agricultural Policy and European Green Deal
Summary:
The Common Agricultural Policy is one of the most important policies in the history of the EU. By following various reforms and spending a large amount of its budget on restructuring the agricultural sector, it has largely succeeded in supporting its modernization efforts. The task is still proving difficult, given the different economic and political conditions in the EU Member States. However, the need to protect the environment and to ensure adequate and good food quality, requires a collective effort of all Member States to approach and overcome the planned objectives, which are not other than the “European Green Deal” and the “Farm to Fork” strategy. The sustainable rural development of the Greek agricultural sector is a priority, while also defining the effectiveness of the Greek agricultural policy, which presents several weaknesses, but also opportunities for development.
