Προκλήσεις ως προς τη σεξουαλική-αναπαραγωγική υγεία σε LGBT εφήβους και νέους ενήλικες, με έμφαση στην εποχή του COVID19, συστηματική ανασκόπηση
Translated title:
Sexual-reproductive health challenges in LGBT adolescents and young adults, with emphasis in the era of COVID19, a systematic review
Summary:
Fears had been expressed that the continuing COVID-19 pandemic would seriously affect the sexual behavior and sexual health of LGBT youth. The purpose of this review was to examine any potential effects and possible alterations on sexual activity and access to sexual health services of LGBT adolescents and young adults which are due to the measures placed for the control of the COVID-19 pandemic. 11 studies (22,632 subjects) were considered eligible according to the inclusion criteria imposed. Regarding sexual behavior, most studies reported a decrease or maintenance at pre-pandemic levels and reduced desire for sex. An increase in pornography and masturbation, as well as an increase in the use of electronic applications for sexual communication and expanded use of alcohol and recreational drugs during sex was also found. Regarding the sexual health of MSM youth during the COVID-19 pandemic, the largest proportion of participants reported reductions in HIV and STI testing, in PrEP and in antiretroviral therapy and difficulties in accessing condoms. Only in one survey continuation of PreP was recorded as a dominant trend. One survey documented attempts to remove access difficulties through telemedicine. Some studies reported that risk sexual behaviors for HIV and STI infection had been significantly reduced, but rebounded to pre-pandemic levels after the first phase of the pandemic. Consequently, COVID-19 appears to have further foregrounded the need that sexual care services be better organized, youth-friendly and easily accessible, especially for LGBT youth.
