Summary:
The thesis examines the influence received by the Byzantine scholar Michael Psellos from the neoplatonic philosopher Proclus, in the field of Metaphysics. The ontological levels (En/One, Mind, Psyche, etc.) as delivered by the two philosophers, as well as their philosophical mysticism are examined and compared. Strong similarities detected in these fields lead to the estimation of a strong possibility that Psellos was highly influenced by the Proclean philosophy.
