Covid-19 and clinical trials: knowledge-attitude and practice before and after pandemic
Summary:
Objective: The investigation of the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic in collaboration
with the knowledge, attitude and practices of the Greek people towards clinical trials.
Namely, an effort was made to investigate the level of knowledge and the attitude of the
participants before the Covid-19 and how much they were changed after the pandemic,
more specifically between the people working in the health-drug sector and the general
population (not working in the pre-mentioned sectors).
Method: The research was done by the use of a questionnaire which was spread through
social media due to the restrictive measures of production against the Covid-19. The
questionnaire contained questions regarding social-demographic information, questions
regarding the knowledge and the attitude towards clinical trials and questions about6
whether the knowledge and attitude was affected by the presence of the Covid-19
pandemic.
Results: From November of 2021 until April of 2022, 161 people participated, while 161
approved answering the questionnaire. The majority of the participants (45.3%) were
between the age 26 and 35 years old, and also the majority of the participants (68.4%)
worked in the health and drug divisions. The general knowledge and the attitude of the
participants were over all in a very good level and positive, despite the working position.
Conclusion: The participants hold a good level of knowledge towards the principals of
clinical trials, but they lack knowledge about more specific knowledge towards the ethics
of the clinical trials and the information of consent. Moreover, the majority of them did not
have participated in a clinical trial and there was a medium positive attitude in participating in the future.
