Summary:
The purpose of this dissertation is the design and development of a website about the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the operation of the General Hospital Maternity (G.N.M.) “Elena Venizelou” using the Joomla CMS (Content Management System). The created website aims to inform citizens about the effects of the pandemic on the operation of the hospital. The theoretical part of this dissertation includes an overview of the COVID-19 pandemic, its historical review and the effects of the pandemic in hospitals. The necessity of information, the role of communication and the way of informing the citizens during the pandemic is also analyzed.
Specifically, the role of the internet and the websites in informing citizens during the period of the pandemic is examined. The impact on the hospital operation and all included changes that were necessary to adapt in the new needs of the pandemic are also reported.
The data on cases of COVID-19 about the employees and the patients as well as the consumption indicators for medical and non-medical equipment as recorded by the 1st District of Health are reported.
The website design of websites is mentioned as well as the basic principles of their construction, development phases and technologies.
The practical part of the dissertation describes the implementation and the steps for the construction of the website of the "Elena Venizelou" General Hospital.
The dissertation concludes by providing the information collected and displayed on the developed website.
